Islamic Relief Dinner for Kashmir this Friday

 asSalaam ‘alaykum warahamtullah,

Got the following message from a dear brother – please read!

Assalamoalaikum warahmatullah,

The largest earthquake to hit South Asia in a century devastated the region on the morning of Saturday, October 8, 2005. The 7.6 magnitude earthquake affected Kashmir, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan, destroying entire towns and villages. Over 40,000 people were reported dead, and an additional 3 million were left homeless. Over 5 million people, men, women, children, and elderly have been affected by this disaster whose epicenter was close to Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-administered Kashmir.

On behalf of Islamic Relief, you and your family are cordially invited to attend our dinner to learn about the current situation of your brother’s and sister’s in the land of Kashmir. The earthquake may have been in late 2005, but the effort to rebuild their lives is far from over.
Our dinner will be held this Friday May 11th at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Houston, University Center, located at 4800 Calhoun Rd. The evening will begin promptly with Maghrib salah, heart felt stories and updates about the situation in Kashmir and Islamic Relief project updates from Br. Azhar Azeez and Imam Johari Abdul Malik, a video presentation, eye-witness accounts, and nasheed and poetry performances to end the night. Tickets are $15 per individual and $40 per family and you may purchase them at your masjid or at the door. Babysitting is also provided by Straight Path Center at $10 a child.
It is our sincere wish to see you all there this Friday, insha’Allah. Please bring your family and all your family friends. If you have invitations this Friday, postpone then, and instead invite your friends to this more than worthy cause. Our Beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) once said: “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity” (At-Tirmidhi). And Allah the Most High says, “And be steadfast in your prayer and pay charity; whatever good you send forth for your future, you shall find it with Allah, for Allah is well aware of what you do (2:110)”.
If you found yourself in a similar situation you would hope the people of Kashmir and your brother’s and sister’s around the world would come running to your aid. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to help those who are in desperate need of our help. We hope that you make this event your priority to answer the cries of our Muslim brother’s and sister’s half-way across the world!
For more information, please feel free to contact me at (832) 656-7618 or you may email me at imran@crescentyouth.com. If you are unable to attend, please be sure to generously donate online at http://www.irw.org.
Wasalamualikum warahmatullah

Finland Commemorates Ahmed Deedat with a Stamp

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahamtullah,

This might be some very old news but it was the first time I saw this. I got it from my uncle’s inbox. Masha’allah, Ahmed Deedat (May allah Have Mercy On his soul) was one of the most popular da’ees of his times in Comparitive religion. He stood out amongst other da’ees of his time due to his ability to quote and recall references nto only from the Qur’an and hadith literature but also the Bible. I believe he is the initiator of the da’wah or the manner of da’wah that Zakir Naik and others practice today.

And surprisingly Finland! Yes Finland out of all the European and Muslim and African (he was established in South Africa, it was Finland that decided to commemorate this man with a stamp. Well here it is:

Muslim Matters: New Website

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

It’s been a while since this website has been launched. I guess I am kind of late at doing this. I am backed up on a lot of my emails. So Muslim Matters is a new website about “Discourses in the Intellectual Traditions, Political Situation, and Social Ethics of Muslim Life”. Also I would like to mention that I happen to know half the Writers on the Editorial Staff and Guest Writers. Please visit, read, and enjoy:

Miracle Kid a HOAX

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahamtullah,

NOTE:  Click here before you proceed!

Something cool I saw on the Crescent Youth Forums. Quite interesting I would say. Someone brought up a contention against this video, hinting that it might be hoax perhaps. Allahu ‘Alam. It sure is interesting and if true a miracle from Allah. I remember seeing glimpses of this video almost 5 years ago when I was visiting India (in Bangalore to be exact). The video itself shows a 5 year old kid whom they call Shaykh Sherifdeen Al Khalifa. I saw this video 5 years ago on the market for sale, and taking into account the time it took to record the video create the product put it on the market and all that good stuff, the kid must be about 10-11 years old on the conservative side.

The description ont he video says –

Born from Christian Parents who both converted to Islam after the young boy’s miraculous Islamic birth. The boy stopped breast feeding at the age of two months. He did not go to school but yet he can read the Quran and the Bible. he preaches to a very big audience and converted many to Islam.

Note: Notice the nasheed that is playing int he background. It is the famous poem by Abdullah ibn alMubarak which I uploaded on this blog here.
