3. Fluctuating Intention to fast
When one is thinking through the day that whether one wants to fast or should he break is fast. This means that one doesn’t have the intention yet. And once the day starts it is too late for him. Because as we said earlier that the intention to fast for a obligatory fast must be from the night before because the Prophet (sall Allâhu’ alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whoever does not intend to fast from before dawn, there is no fast for him (i.e., his fast does not count).” Sunan Aboo Dawood (2454), Sunan at Tirmidhi (730); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood
