Imam Isam Rajab on PBS

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

UPDATE: VIDEO IS POSTED HERE!

I got this email that Amad referred to here about Shaykh Isam Rajab coming on ‘The Connection‘ on PBS – KUHT. I happened to check my mail last night at around 8:15 PM and realized it was on now. So I ran to the TV told me brother to turn off his game and turn to Channel 8 and called for my entire family to watch Shaykh Isam on PBS. My mom came down real quick and she was hooked to the TV. It was a nice show alhamdulillah, couldn’t catch the entire show because I had to leave to go to Family Night at Mission Bend, but took pictures of Shaykh Isam on TV. The show itself was about the concept of “Good and Evil” in different religions and philosophy, as there was a professor of philosophy present there as well, along with a Jewish Rabbi and Christian Priest. Shaykh Isam is an awesome guy masha’Allah, and I love him for the sake of Allah. The pictures aren’t that clear because I was snapping pictures of the TV with the camera on my phone.

‘Muslim’ Organization offers to help school ban…Niqab

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa rahamtullah,

(Source: Daily Mail UK)

The entire story can be found here. In the words of AbdurRahman…..brazen. Also to note, I am not saying these people are not muslim due to my quotes around muslim, I am merely questioning their Islam due to their actions and speech openly disbelieving or opposing the fundamentals of the deen. Pro-regressives as someone termed it and Allah Knows Best!

Muslim organisation offers to help school ban full-face veil
by NEIL SEARS

……The school fears it could face financial ruin if it takes on a 12-year-old girl in the High Court, after her father gained legal aid to argue it is her “human right” to wear the niqab – which covers all of her face except her eyes – in classes.

…….

The chairman of the 500-strong Meco organisation, Taj Hargey, said in his letter to the school that the full-face veil was not a requirement of Islam, and that the girl’s father was being unreasonable.

Dr Hargey said: “We are strongly committed to offering you our full and unequivocal support in banning face-masks at school.

He noted that the school already allows many Asian girls to wear the headscarf, and added that he was prepared to lead a national Muslim protest and fundraising effort against what he called

“this largely Saudi-driven campaign to make the niqab a compulsory requirement for Muslim women”.

Three wishes…..

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahamtullah,

A dear brother (AbdulHasib) forwarded me this video and translation which was first found on IslamLife.com, Shaykh Jalal Abu alrub’s website. Masha’Allah, it is really deep.

Interviewer: Of course this is Qadr from Allah; we do not object to it. Allah says, “Perhaps you would dislike something and yet it is better for you.” However, Abdullah, tell me about the most important things that you used to have and now you don’t and wish you would have again after you have been paralyzed.

Abdullah: Three wishes??!!! I have three wishes that concern me. I am grieved by the fact that I can’t have them. The first is to be able to prostrate even one “sajdah” to Allah (subhanahu wa ta’aala). I wish I could prostrate to Allah one sajdah only to never rise from it inshaAllah. There is fear inside me. There is an ayah in the Quran that says, “…on the day when a shin will be uncovered and they will be invited to prostrate [to Allah] but they will not be able to.” (surat Noon) Today I can’t prostrate; but when I was able to walk, I had neglected many prayers. Some people may feel sad for me when they see me now. Those people were not sad when I neglected my prayers.
The second wish is to be able to turn one page of the Quran. This is something you (ie: healthy people) never think of. But for me it is like a mountain.
The third is that in a day of “Eid” or happiness or any occasion, I wish I were able enter house and give my mother a hug……(long pause).

Thank Allah!

37 Korean Troops Convert to Islam

Ahead of Iraq Deployment, 37 Korean Troops Convert (revert) to Islam

“I became a Muslim because I felt Islam was more humanistic and peaceful than other religions. And if you can religiously connect with the locals, I think it could be a big help in carrying out our peace reconstruction mission.”

So said on Friday those Korean soldiers who converted to Islam ahead of their late July deployment to the Kurdish city of Irbil in northern Iraq.

….

They had memorized the Arabic confession, ” Ashadu an La ilaha il Allah, Muhammad-ur-Rasool-Allah,” which means,

“I testify that there is no god but God (Arabic: Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”

 …..

Zaitun Unit Corporal Paek Seong-uk (22) of the Army’s 11th Division said,

“I majored in Arabic in college and upon coming across the Quran, I had much interest in Islam, and I made up my mind to become a Muslim during this religious experience period [provided by the Zaitun Unit].”

He expressed his aspirations.

“If we are sent to Iraq, I want to participate in religious ceremonies with the locals so that they can feel brotherly love and convince them that the Korean troops are not an army of occupation but a force deployed to provide humanitarian support.”

How Bad do You Want to Go to Hajj?

Will you ride a bicycle for two and a half months through 13 countries to go to Hajj?? (Special thanks to Abu Eesa and SisterinIslam for finding this. )

Source: IslamOnline.net and Yahoo!

Epic Bicycle Ride

URUS-MARTAN — Seeking the greatest spiritual experience in a Muslim’s life, a 63-year-old Chechen criss-crossed 13 countries on his rusting bicycle to join nearly three million Muslims from across the world in performing hajj.

“I was only afraid, and am afraid, of God — and that I might not reach my goal,”

Dzhanar-Aliyev Magomed-Ali told Agence France Presse (AFP) on Monday, January 29, after retuning home from the spiritual trip.

Magomed-Ali finished a 10-week trip on his old bike from Urus-Martan, a small village in Chechnya, to the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

The distance between the capital Grozny and Makkah is nearly 5,000 kilometers but the aging Chechen clocked up nearly 12,000 kilometers in his circuitous route.

…..

He said the inspiration came from his mother who visited him in a dream.

…….

Incredible Journey

Determined to make the journey, Magomed-Ali took the precaution of training for his tough road, taking short cycle-rides around Chechnya’s war-ravaged landscape.

The elderly Chechen also equipped himself with 11 spare bicycle chains and six replacement inner tubes for his bicycle.

He recalled the unprecedented route he made through 13 states on his mud-splattered “iron horse” as he calls his old bicycle.

He left his village on November 8 heading to neighboring Azerbaijan, where he camped outside the Saudi embassy hoping for a visa.

“The consulate’s employees took me to be abnormal and couldn’t understand how I planned to get to their country by bicycle,” Mogomed-Ali told AFP, wearing his traditional sheepskin hat and woolen jumper.

After 18 days of relentless efforts with the consulate officials, he gave up and headed south across the border into Iran.

But later came the hardest leg of his journey when he reached war-ravaged Iraq, where he faced a dilemma with the US soldiers.

“Because I hadn’t got a visa, they broke my bicycle, smashed it against the ground and called me a Russian pig,”

Mogomed-Ali recalled.

“I told them I wasn’t Russian but a Muslim and they seized my passport and pointed to the crosses on the cover.”

He was then forced to turn around and head back to Iran and around Iraq through Armenia and Georgia, down through Turkey, Syria and Jordan.

Finally, after further border wrangles, the Chechen faithful reaches Saudi Arabia to seek his cherished destination, Makkah.

In the holy city, Mogomed-Ali was well-received and offered prayers for his family and homeland, before turning round and heading back home.

Despite the hardships he encountered, the old Chechen is now counting his blessings.

“I did the hajj in order to fulfill the will of my mother, who gave me life and taught me love for my homeland, which for me is priceless,”

Mogomed-Ali said, standing beside the bike adorned with the emblem of Chechen independence fighters.

The small mountainous republic of Chechnya has been ravaged by conflict since 1994, with just three years of relative peace after the first Russian invasion of the region ended in August 1996 and the second began in October 1999.

How was it Making the Hajj Pilgrimage back in 1953?

asSalaam ‘alaykum wa Rahamtullah,

A good brother forwarded me this email with pics of people going to Hajj back in 1953. The photos were in an issue of National Geographic back in 1953. Click on the images to see the full size images, insha’Allah. I was talking to my dad after showing him these photos and he would tell me how different it was when he went back in the 1970s and then again in the 1980s, i think. And as we know Hajj has really changed now. Allahu ‘Alam.

The cover of the magazine.

These are people ready to go to hajj. This is probably the only thing that is the same now and has been since the time of the Prophet (sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and Sahaaba (radi Allahu anha).

Passengers on a Hajj ship being unloaded.

No non-muslims beyond a certain point
